Tajikistan Remittances Received

Tajikistan’s remittance inflows have surged from a modest 78,562,800.00 in 2002 to an all‑time high of 7,660,604,952.20 in 2025, placing the country 29th globally and narrowly below Croatia’s 7,296,691,105.95 and Korea’s 7,291,770,000.00. The twenty‑four‑year expansion reflects the growing reliance on migrant workers, particularly in Russia, whose earnings have become a pivotal source of foreign exchange and household income. While the magnitude of receipts now rivals those of mid‑size economies such as Poland ( 8,966,700,000.00 ), the share of national GDP remains higher than in many advanced economies, underscoring the structural dependence on external labour markets. The upward trajectory is reinforced by continued labour migration, but could be moderated if domestic employment opportunities improve or if geopolitical shifts alter migration corridors. Future patterns will therefore hinge on the balance between labour‑sending incentives and the development of home‑grown economic diversification.
