Vietnam’s remittances received have risen dramatically over the 26‑year series, climbing from a low of 1,100,000,000.00 in 2001 to an all‑time peak of 16,881,962,415.05 in 2025, where it ranks 15th globally. The latest figure of 16,881,962,415.05 represents a more than fifteen‑fold increase from the early‑2000s and outpaces comparable economies such as Belgium, which recorded 15,839,636,897.94 in the same year, while remaining below Indonesia’s 17,881,357,316.34. The surge reflects expanding overseas Vietnamese communities, higher wages in host countries, and improved financial channels that reduce transaction costs. Despite the strong growth, Vietnam’s share of global remittances remains modest relative to larger economies, and future inflows could be vulnerable to shifts in destination‑country labor markets or tighter migration policies. Continued diversification of migrant destinations and digital payment innovations are likely to sustain the upward trajectory, albeit at a potentially slower pace.
