Palau's youth literacy rate has demonstrated remarkable consistency and improvement over the years, especially considering its remote island geography. As of 2020, the country boasts a youth literacy rate of 100.00%, positioning it at the top globally. This achievement represents a significant milestone, especially when compared to its all-time trough of 94.28% in 1980, a period when the country was still developing its educational infrastructure. Palau's literacy rate has consistently outperformed its regional peers, including Armenia, which ranks 3rd globally with a literacy rate of 99.87%. The country's dedication to education is evident in its steady progress, with a coverage of 4 years of education being a significant factor in its success. However, Palau's reliance on imported teachers and educational materials may pose a challenge in maintaining this trend, and a decline in international aid could potentially disrupt the country's education system, impacting its future growth in youth literacy rates.
